Pedestrian Accidents in California
Walking is often viewed as a safe and enjoyable activity. When sharing the roadways with negligent and reckless drivers, it can turn dangerous instantly. Every day, approximately 40 pedestrians are struck by vehicles and left injured across the state of California. These accidents can result in minor injuries for some. However, the vast majority of victims are left with broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and other debilitating injuries that cause overwhelming pain and suffering. Many victims require immediate medical treatment for their injuries. Given the fact that pedestrians are vulnerable to the impact of collisions, they are more likely to sustain injuries that lead to permanent disabilities and impairments.
Many victims involved in pedestrian accidents have problems enjoying activities they once loved. Numerous people involved in pedestrian accidents are unable to return to work indefinitely. The majority of these accidents are caused by drivers who act negligently while operating their vehicles. When drivers text or talk on their phones, eat food, chat with others in the vehicle, drive impaired, and perform other actions that take their eyes off the road, they are likely to cause life-changing accidents. Not only are victims forced to endure the mental and emotional consequences of accidents, but they are often left with extraordinary financial burdens as well.
